Letter to
Atty. General Spitzer, 4/21/2005

Dear Mr. Spitzer,

I am writing to express my displeasure with your refusal to enforce the law, as interpreted in the recent Sherrill decision, as it pertains to the Turning Stone casino. Turning Stone does not operate under a valid license from the State of New York and it is not on Indian territory. You have positioned yourself as an Attorney General who is tough on corporate crime and will not back down from fear that a large economic interest may be hurt by enforcement of the law. Why, then, won't you investigate the illegal operations of the Turning Stone casino and enforce our state laws?

If you also want to write to the Attorney General, his address is:

Attorney General
ELIOT SPITZER (D)
Statler Towers, 4th Floor, Buffalo NY 14202
716-853-8400

Email Mr. Spitzer at Spitzer@spitzer2006.com

Gov. Pataki, who has championed casino gambling despite the fact that such gambling is clearly disallowed by our NYS constitution, has shown a disgraceful disregard for our laws . I had hoped that I would be able to oppose this disgraceful position by voting against him, and in favor of someone who would uphold our state's anti-gambling laws. Unfortunately, it now appears that you will not be that candidate.

I urge you to reconsider your position on this important issue by enforcing state anti-gambling laws. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mary F. Bartley
